new team - new motivation

I had my first ever training camp a week ago out in Moab. The Rocky Mountain team was invited to join the factory team for a few days of riding in the desert and it was more than a great time. We pretty much rode, ate, slept, and did a little work on our computers here and there.

Josh and I were trying to decide on what sort of epic day we wanted to do on Saturday - and with the help of new Xterra Winter World Champ, Brian Smith - we decided to tackle the famous White Rim: a 110 mile ride through the Canyonlands National Park. Most people take 3-5 days to do this ride to take in the beauty of it, but Josh and I decided we would do it in a day's work.

Ah, the beginning . . .

The views . . .

Starting to feel the burn . . . (and the 6 hrs the day before - Josh rode 7 the day before that!)

The climb out. If you look really close, you'll see a road that takes you to the top. To use a quote my roommate taught me - about halfway up, 'I cracked like the liberty bell'.

All in all a great trip, but it wouldn't have been complete without a trip to Tom Tom's VW junkyard so Martini, our team manager, could grab a few necessities.

I'm happy to report that Josh and I retired our old uniforms from our previous teams that day out on the white rim and we are now official . . .
